Have plans to run a fairly big rotovator, like 11 or 12 feet. Looking for powerplant, among possibilities is either a 5020 or 4620. Leaning towards 4620 as 5020 has original engine and their reputation is not good around here. Now I hear that the 20 series tended to spit our their rear end if they did a lot of heavy pto work. Want to know if this is true or am I just getting smoked by some red-iron dude. Comments please.

Had a neighbor who ran a 20' Howard rotavator for years on a 4640 and pulled an 8row planter behind it on a bridge hitch, he never had any trouble.

You said it not me. Does it smell like Hickory are Mesquite?. There is nothing wrong with the trans of the 20 series tractors. Both the 5020 and the 4620 are good tractors.
