Hi Folks ..... I recently bought a 44 JD AW and am looking for steering parts .... Previous owner "welded" the center steering arm to the steering spindle and nut ... Also one knuckle is broken off the center arm and unistrut was bolted accross the steering linkage ... I need a spindle , center arm ( I might have one located ) and outer arms .... Any Help? .... My question is .... Other than the "narrow and wide" on the A and the AW ..... Is the rest of the tractor the same ??? .. If I can't get parts , can I change front ends? .... Thank You! ... John

The CP won't like this but someone else may have tried it ?? If your old yoke or steering arm can't be welded and repaired is to see if the shaft can be modified for the later yoke or if the later split shaft and yoke (steering arm AB3633R, available new aftermarket) can be modified to fit your front end and work. Did you ask any of the other suppliers like Denglers, Detwilers or Rosewood if anyone had plans later to make that part ?

Ok, I thought it might be. Still no luck finding yoke or fixing it huh? You would have to trade out the pedestal casting and spindle shaft on front of frame to use another style front end with that one.

If you have the early style AW-AWH front end where the center yoke piece is splined to the spindle shaft you would have to change the bolster casting also that bolts the frame. Narrow fronts or rollomatics with the one piece spindle have a different boltster you would have to change also to the frame. If you have the later style AW wide front end for 584000 and up where the yoke or extension knee bolts on or splits then yes you change the front ends easily. A parts book will show you all that and different front ends.
