My dealer has a 4020, later model console hydraulics before they went to the fender location. Has an aftermarket turobo. They have done an overhaul, and detuned to 120hp. Aftermarket oil pan also to increase capacity and cooling. I need the extra hp, and this sounds like the ticket. Any experience and watchouts I need to be aware of as I look this machine over?

Thanks!!

Have a 4020 with M&W turbo kit that is an excellent tractor. It has around 8000 hours on it . We used to pull a 5 bottom 16" plow with it and it would "walk the dog". Ours was Dyno'd and I think it is turning closer to 140 HP. We don't do much heavy work with it anymore but wouldn't be afraid to.

You found a good tractor. The 4020 can handle the turbo and 120 HP with no trouble. The M&W oil pan with a 5 gal capacity is a good add on but also make sure that the fan and shroud have been changed to increase the cooling capacity. You should have a 8 blade fan. An oil filter should also have been added tlo the turbo pressure supply line. I have had 2 & still have 1 4020 set up like this and had no trouble at all.

Hard to tell you what to look for on a 4020, they are good tractors, but are old. You will like the turbo kit with the extra horses. Like Chad said the tractor will handle the HP as long as you don't get crazy with it. If you are going to lots of very, very heavy pull, might want to look for a 4320. They are about the same HP stock (115hp)and are designed for the extra HP. But I wouldn't be too worried about the extra hp on the tractor, there are lots of tractors around with those kits on them. Well good luck with the 4020.

PS. The console model tractors are the 3020, 4020 build after 1969, with the side consoles, hydraulics on the side.) I ran one of these with the M&W kits for a friend for years. He had the tractor for over 20yrs, best tractor he ever had. (It finally was time last year, sold it for a 4430 w/cab.)

I had great luck with my 5010 with the M&W turbo on it, just didn't get stupid with it, and it worked fine.

Make sure thst there is still a filter in the oil line for the turbo, and change it every time you change the oil.
