Is it a correct assumption that you use 90 weight oil in the transmission and hydraulic fluid in the power lift system? I assume that they are two separate systems and that the hydraulic system does not use the tranny fluid.

The tranny fill is on the right side of the tranny just behind where your foot would be if you were setting on the tractor. The hydraulic fill is under the seat, also used as a breather.I've seen anthing from 90w to 140w used in those tranny's mostly to quiet the noise.Hydraulic oil will work in the rockshaft unit, some books recommended 10w,but that was back 50 years ago when they were built.

Forgot, there's a brass valve on the rear of the rockshaft assembly (looks like a radiator drain) that you use to check the oil level, just open it,add oil, when it runs out it's full.

Ray,
Thanks for the info. I have the shop manual but don't have an owners manual.
