Are the part numbers stamped into the rear rims of tractors? I"ve looked on the rims of my 50 and can"t find any part number, but not sure where to look if they are there.

55 50,
Many rear pressed steel wheels had the JD part number stamped in the wheel body (like JD1250R). However, I haven't run into rims with the part number. On the inside of the rim (ie, on the metal under the tube) you will often find information stamped on the first bevel - the manufacturer, size, and Tire and Rim Association stamp, and sometimes the date. It would read something like Goodyear 10 W 38 TRA 3-54.

Duane, Thanks for the good info. I was curious to know what size rims I have since two different sizes are listed in the 50 Parts Catalog. My rims measure 11 1/4 inches across the widest part (outer edges) of the cross section which I believe are for the original 10-38 tires. From one edge to the other where the tire beads fit these rims measure 10 1/4 inches. I have 12.4-38 tires on it and they seem just slightly more rounded on the side to side profile of the tread than other 50s I have seen at shows with 12.4-38 tires.

It sounds like you have 10-38 rims, and Deere would normally have used either 10 or 11-38 tires (or 11.2 or 12.4 under the new measuring system started in 1957). Different brands of tires will look different on the same rims - I like the look of BFGoodrich 45 deg bar tread - they tend to look flatter.
