I got the new wood grassboard mounted on the mower using the spring on the outside to allow the pivot from side to side. My question is the spring doesnt hold the board on real tight and it also travels up and down as well. Is this movement correct or do I need a stiffer spring?

It's suppose to flex some but the board, spring and nut should be on outside of cast piece and front end of board should bump against outer top lip on casting piece to keep it from going down too far. Maybe that lip is broke off or board isn't made right and too short on front?

It is ok for the rear end to move up and down, You need to have something to stop it from moving down too much though or you will lift the bar and back up and hook it in the hay and bread the stick. The metal part on the inside of the wood should go far enough foreward under the shoe to stop the outer end from dropping down that far.

Mine does the same thing. I believe that is the way it was designed. I have never seen one that did not flex.
