Too much gas and fouling plugs. I checked the carb settings and went by the book. Screwed jets in even farther. No change. Removed the intake pipe so air wasn't restricted. No change. Why is it running too rich? Thanks

Yes, it is a M-S carb. I'll get a kit and new gaskets, clean it out, check the float, and see how it works then. Thanks.

Normally if it was a M/S USX carb I would agree to toss it too for a Zenith but the 2520 and 2510 used the good ole M/S TSX carbs. Most are very simple to fix but if you have the one with the solenoid needle valve it can give you headaches. The solenoids are not cheap but a common problem on those with them causing to run rich. You can also replace the solenoid needle with a standard adjustable type on some TSX carbs. A good soaking and cleaning of all the jets and passageways after complete disassembly and a gasket needle seat kit should get it going well again. If you have some numbered drills get those out and run them by hand only thru the passage ways cleaning them out. New floats are available reasonably for the TSX also. The TSX carb is not hard to fix yourself. If it was a USX though just toss it and never look back. lol. The new Zenith for it now will be a universal type though with universal linkage not always fitting like the original.

If it's a Mavel carb toss it in the trash and install a Zenith. Sounds like a high float level, leaking float, plugged bowl vent or such. A gasket set and cleanup might find the problem? Is the fuel pump pressure normal?
