I just recently installed a new governor on this 1984 jd 400 garden tractor with the 20hp Kohler engine. I cannot find the correct timming mark on the flywheel. I thought I had it but it sparks at the wrong time. I am looking through the little peep hole next to the coil. If anyone has any idea of where this is I would really appreciate any info

Sorry But I dont see a link to the web site. I went to kohler.com and looked up that model number but there were no matches for K-532.

I didn't realize the link didn't "take".

The Kohler site is a little tricky... you gotta look in "Engines", and then select "classic engines" from the drop-down menu.

The engine is a Kohler K-532. Below is a link to the engine manual, in .pdf format, on the Kohler website. The governor installation and timing information starts on .pdf page 25, which corresponds to Page 5.1 in the paper manual.

There is spark timing information on .pdf page 36, which corresponds to paper manual page 6.8.
