I found a 70 JD and it needs a head.I am going to look at it as soon as I can,but the guy that told me about it couldn't remember if it was a diesel or not.About how much would a used head cost for a diesel and for a gas, thanks.

The question is why does it need a head? Might have other unknown problems as well. Just be cautious.

Dennis what's the problem with your head, there isn't much a good machine shop can't repair. I take mine to Cornetts Machine Shop in Somerset Ky.I have some new valve guides for a 70 Lp. By the way if that head you got spotted is a 70 All-fuel latch on to it,they bring a nice premium, you see they will fit a J.D."G" and the two barrel carb. can then be added pullers likem. If its a all fuel and you don't want it drop me a line. You might want to go to the J.D. Dealer and get casting numbers before you purchase. later Gman I got a book at home that has the numbers, but I'm at work. email me

I would check with Shorty Dear . You can reach him at( [email protected] ). He can help you out with the head and he can give you an idea what the price will be.
