JDGNUT is guessing you have a syncro range tranny. He hit the nail almost square on the head. There is one thing I would check first before splitting the tractor is check the shift linkages where they go into the tranny. Left side of tractor and make sure they are tight and that the arms are not cracked where they bolt onto the shafts going into the trans. Also check to see if there is a lot of access play in and out on the shafts if so get the arms to slide in on the shafts to take the in and out movement out. Hope this helps

Oh,yea I forgot about the linkage. I've left one of those little disks out on the shifter before, work fine untill the owner got it, and to make a trip out to fix her the next day.

What Trany you got. But If I'm guessing it just grinds when you try to put it in gear and kind of acts like the clutch is not disengaging all the way. (I just guessing here.) Usually it is the sycronizers in the top shaft. Which means it the top shaft of the trany will have to be removed. Well give us some more info here.

Can you tell us more so we might be able to help you? Is the Transmission grinding when you try to shift? Is it going into gear and will not move? Let us know and we will try to help you.

IT SEAMS THAT THE CLUTCH IS NOT REALESING PUT IT IN GEAR AND IT WILL NOT GO ALL THE WAY IN AND THEN IT WILL JUMP OUT OF GEAR. IF YOU SHUT IT OFF WHILE IT IS IN GEAR YOU HAVE TO ROCK IT BACK AND FORTH TO GET IT OUT OF GEAR NOW IT WILL NOT SHIFT AT ALL HAD TO PULL IT TO SHOP IN BIG MIDDLE OF PECAN HARVEST

Have you tried to adjust the clutch?? It is very easy to do on those tractors, adjustment is on the pedal.
