Try Stewart & Stevenson www.ssss.com locations in Dallas, Longview, or Houston whichever is closest. They are the GM (Detriot) Diesel distributor for most of Texas. They might also do the repairs at one of their shops. I get my parts for a 440ICD from them (either Odessa or Dallas). Looks like the toll free for Longview is 800 945 1334.

Well, since the engine is a Detroit 2-53, you might think of quizzing down any mechanics at a Detroit diesel/Allison dealer. In NE Ohio, we have Williams Detroit that is a large networked dealer. If you've lost compression, it might need a rebuild. then you might do like my 78 year old dad and give it a SHORT snort of starting fluid to get it running.(he's been doing this for the last 22 years, and has needed rebuilt, but for him this fineand continues to use it a few days a week as is) Look in the Yellow pages, there should be a Detroit dealer under the ENGINES, DIESEL heading

Once they have had a few snort of ether they can lose compression from cracked ring lands, broken rings, scored rings or scored cylinder walls. When rebuilding take the S series componets and use them for door stops etc. There are several past posts on this site about the N upgrade. More compressison, finer mist from the injectors, better springs on the cam followers, better valve springs. And machining the blower end plate for a new type of seal. No fun when they draw oil past the old style seals and she runs away. Don't go larger than N35's unless the rods are swapped for the piston spray cooling style. The air filter canister may well be full of oily mud. They convert to a dry filter real easy. And as a bonous no oil lurking in the intake air tract.

Yes I think that the either is why it in this shape Ihave looked throught the old post, lot of good stuff there. I can get an engine kit throught the local auto parts store is there any certain kind of kit to look for if I upgrade to n35 inj. and the blower seals.

thamks

PS not my either I dont believe in it ,paper sacks, wd-40, gas on a rag

I found the real Detroit Parts at the Detroit dealer cost only a few bucks more and gave great peace of mind. Knowing they were correct and the latest update. The 2-53 was obsolete in the books so I ordered parts from the 4-53N listing. Love then or hate them. Those crazy Cadillac engineers who designed a two stroke diesel at the start of WWII. They were a bunch of geniuses.

Lucky skunk. Both of mine lacked PS, Spin outs, swept back axle, float ride seat or remote hydraulics. They did both however have good HD three rib rear fenders. They did have five speeds and live pto however. I used a pile of cheap parts from early 1010's, 420,s & 430's for the restorations. If the salvage yard knew the parts were for a semi-rare 435 the prices would have steep. If into the rearend/trans. The HD ring and pinion from a pre 31,000 1010 bolts right in. A slower ratio choice can be had as well. The final drive gears from a post 31,000 1010 are 15% slower as well. Wish I had built mine 30% slower. Check all front end, axle, engine front mounts etc for loose or broken bolt/threads. The vibration plays havic. If using a dry air filter converion N45's can be used without making smoke. Good for 55HP at 2400rpm. 2400rpm max on two valves. Don't ballast the tractor past 4250lbs or try to use more than even the stock power through the pto on anything except some smooth load like a dyno or generator. The front cast pot metal nose cone is made from unatainium. Guard it like it was made of gold.
