Hi I am using an A that I dont know the history
of. After heavy work for about 3hrs there is a
much greater valve or tappit noise than when I
started. I am using 40 wt oil. The tractor seems a little weak. It gets hot in
2nd gear plowing maiz stubble with a large tribble
disc(never any wheel slippage and the rubber is
about half gone). I have noticed bubbles at the
head gasket next to the compression relief when
its hot but not in the radiator. Can any one help an old Massy plowboy?

Charlie when you pull your valve cover off check to see if the oiling tubes for the rocker arm assembly are not stopped up. You can have years of carbon and baked on oil inside the tubes. Even check the tube from the Govenor to the valve cover. I have had to soak them in Berrymans B 12. The rocker arms only get oil through these tubes. They get to squeeking after a few min. of use if they do not get oil. Hope this helps.

pull your valve cover and check the valve clearance they could be loose the bubbles could be the start of a leaky head gasket. not uncommon if it has lots of hrs on it
