I have a 4430 that I just purchased. The 3-point does not seem to be working properly. When the lever is all the way back it lifts up as it should, but then when you move the lever forward less than and inch it is all the way down. That is the lever has at least a 6" range of motion, but the 3-point goes from all the way up to all the way down in only 1".

If you work with it very carefully you can set you implement height correctly, but I assume the 3 point should not be all the way down until the lever is all the way forward. Any ideas on what to check?

No , the adjustment is on the side of the rockshaft cover , the adjustment in the back plug is for the draft . same side as control lever ,just in front is a plug , screwdriver adjustment to increase gap between the valves. see manual for details

Did you try the load and depth control knob on the side of console?

No I did not. Did not even know it was there. I have no experience on these tractors. All my tractor experience prior to this was on a Farmall M, and a Mineapolis Moline M5.

Don't have any 4430 manuals now. You can find them from online vendor ads and auctions or get a new copy from JD.

Brandon,if moving the L&D conrol which is by your right heel sitting in seat to "D" doesn't help then lift needs to be adjusted internally. You will need a JD tech. manual as it's a little complicated. Some have said to just go in bung hole at rear of tractor and adjust with extension and welded or taped on socket but that is only a small part of adjustment. Tx Jim
