might have an opportunity to pick up a cheap model 40 in pieces. apparently someone disassembled one and left it in a field. worth throwing parts on a trailer and putting back together?

Don't know about what it's worth, but it sounds like fun. It's a pretty common tractor so there's enough parts around...a green jigsaw puzzle, but then, I don't mess with old 2 cyl's for money.

Depends what model it is. Deere made a 40 T, S, W, U, H, V, C. They also made these in both gas and allfuel. Any allfuel is worth restoring as would a W, U, H, or V gas. But if it is a T,S,or C; part it out and put it on eBay. I will be parting a MT soon should you fix the 40 and need some parts.
