The newer cheaper gauges got some really bad reviews here a while back. Have they improved or are they still not very good quality?

I have heard both bad and good about almost every brand of gauge available. No matter what you buy, it may, or may not, be accurate. Do not assume that since a gauge is more expensive that it is more accurate. Other than that, check out how it mounts - two bolts, one bolt, where is the sensor hole. Also look at the face detail, and if you like the indicator. Some like plastic faces, others only want glass since it was original. Look at the Bezel - for color, chrome, and general shape and size. Is the sensor cable/tube the color and length that you want? Ask these questions before you buy, and accept the fact that any manufacturer sooner or later sells a lemon. Also, what pleases one person may not please another.
