Fixed the pushh rid set screew and tractor runs great. Unfortunately it has 2 speeds lolo idle and and high rpm(rip your self apart) I guess my next lesson in JD mechanics will be repairing the governor. The gov was functioning when first started 4-6 weeks ago, but noew doesn't seem to do anything. Tractor runs fine when throtttle linkage is disconnected and you opperatee carb by hand. Is the governor something a dummy like me should fool with?Yet again thanks for your help, Mike

Mike: A govenor is not that complicated on the John Deeres. If I am thinking right on the G you have an oil line that is connected to the govenor inside the engine compartment. You almost have the govenor off. Watch how you tear it down and replace the weights and bearings . Take pictures as you go so you do not get lost in the repairs. Make sure you shim the end cover correctly or the shaft that drives the mag will not let the mag inmpulse. Hope this will help. If you elect to do the job and are not easy with it take the photos and they will help in the reassembly. Dan

Mike, before you tear it down, make sure the linkage is not binding anywhere! Also see that it is correctly adjusted. Had a fellow bring me a B to repair that was acting that way. It had been to a vo-teck school. Turned out the plate that the throttle linkage hooks to on the throttle shaft was bent causing it to bind, and also the linkage was out of adjustment. Hope thats all your problem is. Good Luck, Don
