I have a very wide seat for the battery box mount of a 2 cyl JD. I remember it sitting in the waiting area of my hometown JD dealership for many years. They set it up as a chair for waiting customers. A fellow who worked at the dealership as a partsman said it was originally was a dealer installed buddy seat or demonstrator seat for the old 2 cyl tractors. I remember setting on it as a young feller, and always wondered where JD used such a wide seat.
Can anyone fill me in as to the history of this setup ? I have pictures of it in the photos section. TIA.

It is my understanding that the buddy seat first made its appearance with the introduction of the 50 and 60. It was so dealers could ride with farmers to show off the features of the tractor.
