My boyfriend has been looking an older 8020 John Deere tractor to restore. We have been unable to locate one around here so maybe someone can help. Please let me know if anyone know where one is that may be for sale. Thanks

They are extremely rare but are among the coolest of John Deere tractors, if not all tractors. Only about 100 were made and only two East of the Missipissi River. The scream of that "Jemmy" Diesel when it ties into an eight bottom plow in gumbo is truly awe-inspiring. I saw one for sale a few years back in Green Magazine for around $30,000. What he can do to get psyched is to find an Ertl Precision 1:16 scale model, this is nicely done and can hold 'im until and he can find a full size one.

I had read somewhere that at least when new, Deere delivered only two east of the Missipissi, but maybe since then, some were sold used later on and thus found their way East. I would like to see one in Northern NY state (my driveway), :-)

What kind of money would it take to buy a rebuildable 8020?

A friend of ours has just finished restoring one. Big $$ to get it back in good condition. I believe they only built ~100 of them.
I know of two here in Ontario and a collector who had 6. Pretty rare machine indeed!

Hmmm, an 8020 is a bit of a scarce tractor. Your best bet of finding one would probably be putting a wanted ad on this website. The marketplace is over on the lefthand side. The ad is free, and trator buffs all over the world will see it.

I wish you and your boyfriend the best of luck. If you find one, and have any kind of recording equipment, I'd love to hear the sound of that Detroit diesel!
