I have a 1945 John Deere H and i was taking apart the fan shaft and did not take any pictures! Now i am having a hard time putting the fan shaft back together. Its a different style from what i was told then the early H"s. What i would like is if any one has pictures from there tractor to send then to me so i can see how the fan and spring go on. Thanks

Fan Shaft Overhaul - Bearing Replacement
(SM, Para 155)

Disassembly, See Figure 3 or PC304, page 12.

1. With fan shaft in vertical position and using a bar or press; force fan and drive discs into front bearing housing, and remove the two split cone locks (63) and keeper (62) from front of shaft. From front of tube, withdraw; Drive discs, Friction washers, and Fan and front bearing parts.

1-Alternate. With fan shaft in vertical position (fan up), jam fan shaft S/A down onto a wooden block, forcing fan down into front bearing. [No! The fan blades won't fall off!]. Remove the two split cone locks (63), and the fan (61). 2. From rear of tube, remove shaft (39) with gear (20), and rear assembly (41).

3. Repack front bearing (52) with high melting point lubricant and renew oil seals (47 and 55) (packing) when reassembling.
