2010 runs poorly when cold

My 2010 gas runs very poorly when first started. It runs fairly well at idle, but, if I try to increase rpm it hiccups and backfires out exhaust.(choking doesn't seem to help). After warming up for 15 minutes or so, it runs much better. I've had carb rebuilt; replaced plugs-points-condensor-rotor-cap and wires. Anyone have suggestions????

Running lean, retarded timing, and/or weak spark will all give those symptoms. With 1010 and 2010 gas engines, the weak spark is the most common issue. They need more spark voltage than most other engines to fire correctly in cold weather. It calls for the same 6 volt coil as was used on the 420 two cylinder tractor - with a resistor, and it's supposed to get a full 9 volts at cranking, and around 7-8 when running. If you've put a replacement coil on it, and it's not the correct one, I would find it suspect. You should also check running voltage on the coil to make sure you don't have a resistor problem. As Old stated in his post, carb icing will do it too - but if that is the problem you should see it - it would be obvious. My 1010 and my Case VACs ice up often - and when they do, the carb has frost all over it. You also might try advancing the static timing a bit and see if it makes any difference.

Have you run a compression test? Sounds like the valves might need some attention.Could be the valves are a bit sticky.Years ago we used to run some brake fluid through the carburetor to clean the valve stems up.Take the air cleaner hose off at the carburetor and with the engine warmed up and running about half throttle, very slowly pour about a cup of brake fluid through the carburetor, making sure that you don't pour the BF too fast or it will kill the engine.Do it outside because the BF will create a LOT of smoke.

Sounds like carb iceing, part of life and is normal when its cold and humid
