I bought a 1942 BR (332731) hand start a few weeks ago and am trying to learn something about these little critters. It does not have a fan pulley and has the rubber fan mount. The parts book I have does not show the rubber fan mount just the regular friction mount. I would appreciate any info on this subject.
Thanks Much,
John

Those rubber mounted fans were original for the early B's up to the early 40's. Serial# in the parts book says the style with the pulley and friction disks were introduced at ser# 171992. They had a habit of coming apart and going through the radiator. You might watch ebay. Complete fanshafts assembly's don't sell too high, and the pulleys, friction disks and fan blade will fit your shaft.Usually cheaper than buying the parts separately. Remember, if you remove the fanshaft and replace those parts, don't lose the gasket pack where the fanshaft attaches to the gov. housing. That is a shim pack to allow the proper backlash between the gears.

I believe the rubber mount was just used on early models or not long of some 2 cylinders but then they went to the friction type?? The D always used the friction type on all of them. If the B guys don't answer then repost to catch their attention or search archives here? I'm just not a B guy..lol.
