Could anyone tell me the differences between the 4020 and the 4030 models? I know the engines are different and possibly the transmissions, but I would like to know of any other changes in the 4030 models. I happen to own a 4030 and was curious about any major changes. I know the 4020 was a great tractor but a little thirsty at times. I would appreciate any honest answers. Thanks in advance.

Leon, The 80HP 4030 did replace the 72HP 3020. The 4230 replaced the 4020. The 4030 was the smallest tractor built in Waterloo Iowa at the time, It came standard with a syncrorange transmission or an optional Quadrange transmission was available. They never built the 4030 with a powershift. The 4030 tractor was all Waterloo built except the engine. The engine was a Dubuque built 329 cubic inch engine wich was used in 2840 tractors, 6600, 4400 and 4420 combines. The drive train was the same caliber as the 3020. The 4030 used the same perma clutch that was used in the 4230 and 4430 models (same parts). It also shared the same hydraulic system as its larger big brothers. A unique tractor like the 2510, 2520 and the late model 4050 wich all used 300 series Dubuque built engines and all were the smallest models offered at the time of there production.

THE 4030 WAS NOT BILT TO REPLACE THE 4020. MAYBE THE 3020.THE 4230 WITH THE SENRO OR P.S. TRAN WITH NO CAB WILL BE VERY CLOSE TO THE LAST 4020
