I'm trying to locate the material used to keep the hood from rubbing the grill assembly, and rear fuel tank cover. what is it, where can I get some? Is there any thing else I can use? Thanks in advance

If you're refering to that "compressed rope" looking material you will find it in the "resto-world" of antique and collector cars. A good place to look would be Year-One. I remember this because my fathers 1936 Chevrolet Business Coupe used this material between the side hoods and body metal along with the trunk and door seals. Most cars prior to around World-War II used this material as butyl rubber was not a perfected reality and even the cars of the early 50's used this material.

My R is sporting a piece of rubber hose captured under a layer of duct tape, was cheap and available and the redneck way to fly!
