I have a 630 that has started backfireing from time to time. It seems to do it more when I first start the tractor and then stops for quite a while. Then it starts again. Any ideas of where I should begin to look for the solution to this problem would be appreciated.

Does it backfire if the choke is on ? It could be running too lean, which will cause an ignition-like backfire. Possible plugging main jet - check the bowl for junk floating around.

George, before you tear anything down, go get a new condenser and install it. That is a symtom of a condenser going bad. My 630 does that and the condenser always has fixed it. Good Luck, Don

Sounds like you may have a valve that sticks partially open from time to time. Are the valve springs in goob shape? Tugboat
