My grandfather and I have decided to sell our model D that my great grand father purchased. but we want to fix it up some first. when comparing it to other unstyled D's we have seen at shows I have seen that ours has been cobbled up. i have noticed that i have the wrong fly wheel, front axel and radiator on my D and am looking for these parts, unfortunatley i do not have a serial number for my tractor any info on parts locations would be helpful thatnks.

You should be able to tell by the engine if you have a early unstyled D 23-30 model. Later unstyled D 1931-38 still had the 2 speed trans from 31-34 but 35-38 had 3 speed trans. The same style engine as the styled D was used in 1931-38 unstyled Ds. Many changes made to the D over the years and parts catalog PC658 should help you some with that. Many main casting numbers are listed in the parts catalog. The exhibit A tractors made in 1928 with updates had a X in serial number and exhihit B tractors made in 1930 had a B in serial number. Several pics and casting numbers would give an idea what D you have and what was possibly or not updated from later Ds.

You should be able to tell by the engine if you have a early unstyled D 24-30 model. Later unstyled D 1931-38 still had the 2 speed trans from 31-34 but 35-38 had 3 speed trans. Better yet put some pic's on here. As this may not be a cobbled up unstyled D that you say you have. As Skip 33652 said it might be the correct parts on the D. The early D's which were not call D's had funny rad's, and a funny front axle, as well as other parts did not look like the D that you see at shows these days. Just my two cents.

the early d's have a bunch of different part or casting #'s especially around govorner and water pipe as well as the main case.you may have to get a parts book and go from there or maybe post picture on this site. many of the really old d's were cobbled on or maybe the correct term would be updated a lot over the years. now your reference to radiator as well as front axle and flywheel perks the interest level a bit.what do they look like now and what do you think they should look like. also the serial tag was below shifting lever is it gone or have you not looked there yet. luck Paul
