I am wanting to buy rear tractor tires for my 1947 D (size 14-30 or 16.9-30). I would like to have the old type with 45 degree lugs. I guess no one makes or reproduces these type of tires? I checked with miller tire and they only have titans in the newer style for the size I need.
If any body has decent matching used tires for sale please let me know. I am located near St.Louis,Mo.

You might try Harlan Wilson in Ohio.
I buy tires from him all the time. Last year I got a pair of 16.9 45 degree and the correct size for the front in the old style tires for my 49 D. He comes through St.Louis every month on his way to Kansas. Great guy to deal with and a lot cheaper than Miller for the same tires.
EMAIL me back with your # and I will call you with more info.

Mark,
Could you tell me more about the tires you purchased from the firestone dealer? Also how much they cost? Do I just ask for the "old style" tires when I go to the dealer?
Thanks. Josh

Josh: Just tell them you want the 45 degree bars. A large tire dealer will have them. I paid $1003.00 for the tires, new tubes, sand blasted the rims and labor to mount the tires and tubes.

I have a '47 D and I put new rear tires on last summer. I got mine from the Firestone dealer. The only real difference is that they say something on the sidewalls that wasn't correct for the period but no one has noticed that yet. They sure do look nice compared to the old ones with big bulges and boots.

More places to check:
www.tiretown.com
www.tuckertire.com
www.nebraskatire.com
Be sure to ask any of them about freight or returns or pics of tires in advance when buying unseen.
