I KNOW THIS IS NOT A TRACTOR QUESTION BUT HOPE I GET SOME INFORMATION. ABOUT 50 YEARS AGO MY FATHER HAD A MIXTURE OF COTTONSEED MEAL AND SALT OR MINERALS THAT HE FED TO HIS COWS IN THE WINTER TIME WITH PLEANTY OF RUFFAGE INSTEAD OF SUPPLIMENTS LIKE WE HAVE TODAY. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE AMOUNTS OF EACH FOR THIS MIXTURE, THANKS FOR THE HELP.

you would probably be better off using seed by itself and salt by itself. If it is mixed, then you do not know if the cows are eating a lot of feed trying to get salt or feed.

Here in northeast Texas the normal mixture is 20% salt to 80% cottonseed meal. Some people use more salt in the mixture. The salt is used to limit the intake of csm. Hope this helps.
