Had to take the return hydraulic pipe off back by the reservoir on a MT (Furthest one to the rear), will I could not get it to start on the threads, ended up stripping the threads on the fitting and maybe even in the housing of the reservoir. I can not get another pipe fitting to thread into the housing. Any ideas on how to fix the threads in the reservoir, there is a flair about a 1/2" inside the reservoir ,so I do not if a tap will work. Anybody ever had this problem and what is the fix? The Fitting, I can probably find a used one.

I don't know how easy it is to get to that bore in the housing, but you can try to ream the first damaged tread or two out with a drillbit of the o/d of the fitting . put the drill in a chuck so you have some leverage. and do it by hand. it may take a while but worth the effort. A tap will often cross tread and you end up having no tread at all left. and clean up with a internal treadfile
