The off-the-shelf standard John Deere yellow would be appropriate. If you've been looking at some wheels from that era that have turned almost a butterscotch color, that was normal, especially on the pressed-steel wheels. They turned that color fairly quickly...I suppose from the composition of the paint and the composition of the steel used during the war years. We had a neighbor who had a "B" whose wheels changed that way in just a few years, and my '41 "B" was that way as well, having never been repainted when I got it in '92. It may have been rust coming through.

Long story short...go with today's available JD Yellow. Classic Green is the one to use as well.

As a side note, the John Deere toys with rubber wheels turned the same color...they may have even been painted that way from the factory, I don't know for sure.

JD dealer sell that paint you need what is called classic yellow and green. The green is rattle can is TY6563. Not sure about the yellow number. Only reason I could give you the green number is because I have a can here in the house.
