I've been getting the run-around about what model JD Dozer I have. I've been told that the serial number is wrong when it's the only tag on the dozer!!!!! I have this info from the ONLY label on the dozer: T5F3M (above TYPE) and 053134T (above MODEL). Is this a 450 C, or B, or what? This is the only numbers that this dozer has and I need a manual to help adjust the clutches. The motor is 4219, Block R55011, R55034. Can O get some help on making sense of this and finally end the run-around?
Thank you in advance, Pete

Its a plain 450, no B,C,etc. That is the model #. Sorry I didn't make that clear in my earlier post.

I don't have JD books on it but in a blue book there is info saying 053134T would be a 1967 model 450 (1964-70) showing 67 began with #42767 and 68 began at #65000. The engine would be a 4 cyld. 219 c.i. JD diesel. This blue book only showed a 202 in 450 but maybe they put the 219 in later ones or it has been changed? Shows 219 in 450B and 450C & D with 219 turbo and 276 in other 450 versions.

I can't help with the numbers, but . . . The first 450s has 3.8" bore engines - 202 cubic inches. The 450Bs had naturally aspirated 4" bore 219s with the early models, and later 450Bs were available with 219 turbos. 450Cs were the first to have wet hydraulically activated steering clutches. Also, there are 450Cs that have gone though the "Certified Relife" program from Deere Company - and they all have 239 cubic inch engines. Also, back to the firt 450s - they had the HL-R shifter down below between your legs. Later models had the shifter up high on one of the side boxes.

You have a straight 450 built in the late 60's. I don't have the appropiate manual to fully decode the serial #, but the serial # for my 350 is similar (T-tractor, 4-JD350, F-crawler dozer, 3-diesel, D-sliding gear w/reverser. Yours should be a 450 diesel dozer with the H-L-R trans. Any JD ag dealer should be able to help you. (the construction equip dealers don't seem to have the #'s for these machines in their systems, at least around here. I had the same problem)

but is this a 450 A, B, OR C? It has the brush guard on it and I can mention a dozen part numbers if it would help find the right model. The problem is, the manual costs $200 and if it"s the wrong one, I can"t return it. The steering clutches NEED to be adjusted and I need to know the MODEL. I need that manual BAD.

Thank yall so much for yalls prompt replies. It is greatly appreciated.

Kindest Regards,
Pete

Pete, I believe it would just be the straight first version 450. You might want to check the serial number with a JD industrial dealer or JD Co. to be sure. In that blue book I have it shows 1964 to 69 450s having a 5 digit serial number and then in 1970 and other later versions of the 450 using a 6 digit serial number. Including the 450B,CD,E,LT,WT,G and several more there were about 19 other versions of the 450 but all those show a 6 digit serial number.

No such thing as a 450A, the first series is just the model number 450, second series is 450B, third is C and so on. Most people will refer to a first series as a "straight".
From the above info, it sounds like you have a 450 straight. Even if you buy a B series manual, the clutch adjusting procedure is the same.
If I was you, I would look on E-bay, there are tons of manuals on there, and 450 manuals usually do not sell that high.
