Have any of you guys purchased one of the rebuild kits (for new generation 6 cyl)off of this website and what do you think?
Mother Deere wants $100 a sleeve and $200 a piston = $1800. The kit on here is just over $2200.
Sure would appreciate you thoughts
Thanks

I can't speak to the quality of the kits sold here, but I've seen plenty of will-fit kits and parts, and haven't been particularly impressed. Took one 4430 apart that had been will-fit kitted, and found that the main bearings were different than what Deere uses in their kits. They had a full groove in both shells, while Deere uses a solid shell in the cap and a grooved shell in the block. Grooved cap shell = less bearing surface area = heavier loads applied to the existing area = faster wear. If it were a lightly-used "play" tractor, I'd still maybe consider will-fit parts. For a field tractor getting serious use and lots of hours, OEM parts every time. BTW, what kit are you pricing there? For a 6030?

No kit available from Deere for the 6030 apparently. By the time you buy a gasket kit and so forth, you'll probably have a bunch more money in the Deere parts. Just depends on your budget. Labor is the highest part of an engine overhaul, so if you do it yourself, you have more money to spend on parts within the same budget. I'm a JD technician, so obviously I'm biased toward Deere parts as that's all we install normally, and have had no problems with them. As I said, I've seen inconsistencies in other kits.

Yep never has been a kit for 6030 I don't think? They told us that when overhauling ours years ago. Then the dealer shop said no warranty unless they used all JD parts and it ended up costing way too much when they were done. Still had some leaks and they didn't fix them and I had to do it myself. And some dealers wonder why they lost business? A 619 conversion or trading tractors would have been the way go I realized later.
