Allen, Pat has pretty well covered it with his response. For those curious about this arrangement, here's a picture:

Allen -- that oil line is part of a field changeover assembly (See PC304, page 5). The line you are referring to (I think) is item # 7. In the March-April issue of Two Cylinder Magazine, we find the following:

"Prior to serial number 17581, a relatively small number of "H" series tractors did not receive sufficient lubrication of the governor and camshaft bearings. A field changeover assembly consisting of a governor shaft left bearing housing with bearing cup and fittings, camshaft left bearing housing cover assembly, and oil line with fittings, was provided for tractors having such lubrication problems. Quite visible to the lower left and a few inches rearward of the instrument panel, tractors fitted with the assembly are a conversation piece."

There should be oil pumped out of the small port (I believe it is 1/8" NPT) on the rear (magneto side) of the governor case. Many times this path is closed -- filled with sludge, and must be opened during disassembly.

I would suppose that for "parade use," closure of this path for oiling will not be a major problem. But if you wanted "field serviceability," you need to open the path up some how.

I would invite others to come in here with commentary of actual experiences. I have not had this one!(PatB)
