8530: I drove an A one summer with a 4 row. It pushed it easily. I am only guessing but the most common must be on the larger two cylinders like 60's and 70's. I am always on the lookout for a four row in working order but have never seen one for sale. Nothing nicer than a knee high corn field just cultivated.

They were used on 620-630 and 720-730. Don't know why you couldn't use them on a 70 as they were the same HP as the 620-630 but the 70's I knew of used 4-row. Make sure you have power steering on the tractor.

CLW: Yes power steering. The A had no power steering and was a half turn of the wheel slop to slop.

I drove an A and late styled B with 4-row as a kid also. First tractor I drove with power steering was a 60. I think the 60 would carry 6-row but I think the 20 series was the first Deere showed in there literature with 6-row. There is a picture in one of the magazines (2-cyl or GM) of a G in Florida with a home made 8 row if I remember right, setup on the front AND rear.
