Looking at a JD 1010. The three point arms lift very, very, very slowly. There is a 1 gallon holding tank mounted on the left fender, its empty. The owner says the tractor is used to pull a manure wagon and he hasn't used the 3pt in years, he thinks it may be low on fluid. Question, is this holding tank factory for the 1010 and does it concern the 3pt., if the hydro pump is bad, how hard to repair?

I believe that this tractor is similar to the 2010. Check the filter in the hydraulic system. I bet you will find that is is clogged with a lot of yellow paint. Change the filter and things will be fine. The 2010 has taken a bad rap. In my opinion it has been a very good little tractor, and we have used the tractor quite hard. Ours is gas, the diesel I do not know about.

If it's a diesel, turn the other way and RUN!

Tank is not factory and depending on where it is plumbed in will determine if it has anything to do with the hyd. system any more. You still need to have hyd fluid in the transmission to run the tractor. How about checking the dipstick?
