I was wondering if anyone knew if you can get 1000 to 540 conversion kits for both the 4640 and the 4630??

I ran a hammermill with an adapter on a 4840 for years. We ran the tractor at a max of 1200 rpm and it still handled the load better than the 4020 ever could! Those adapters work, but they are dangerous as you can't really regulate the equipment rpm positively.

There are companies that make actual gear reduction units for this purpose. They are expensive, but it's the only correct way to run 540 implements on a 1000 rpm tractor.

I don't think there's any sort of "kit" for those tractors, but the 8000s can be equipped with a 540-rpm PTO attachment, and they're a lot higher horsepower than a 4640. They have a shear collar that will break if the torque load gets too high on those. The large-frame 40/50/55/60-series tractors are considerably different in the PTO drivetrain than the small-frame tractors. Your only option on a large-frame 40-series is what DONMYEIL mentioned - install an adapter and run the engine slow to get 540 rpm.

No, they have too much hp for 540 shaft. you can get an adapter to go to 540 splines but it still turns 1000 rpm at high idle.
