Both these gas tractors have become hard to start in cool weather after sitting for a week or more. Spark is good in both. The 4020 has electronic ignition. It appears to be a gas problem. Specifically, the tractors don't seem to be getting any gas until the engine cranks for several minutes, like the carb is completely empty and the bowl has to fill up. There are no visible leaks or drips. Any suggestions? Thanks, John

I would say since its happened to BOTH tractors I would be looking at your gas source. Possibly a water problem, try some deicer (heat or other brand) and see if they come out of it. If they do I would add some deicer to my storage tank as well.

A guy I once knew who sold used trucks ,always pulled the choke on when he would shut an engine off. They always started the next time without a lot of cranking even after setting for a week. You might try that trick.

I have always read to NEVER choke an engine to stop it as it fills the cylinders with raw gas washing down the lube and you will more than likely have hard starting and fouled plugs.

Mike-I think he means after the vehicle has died. Then pull the choke. I don't do it myself, but have heard of it. Bob
