2010 Diesel sticky valves?

I own a JD 2010 Diesel (4 cyl). It runs well and was in daily use until January. Then it was not used for about 6 months. Starting it this weekend I could immediately hear an inlet valve is leaking. I do not know dieel engines too well, so I need some advise.

Can I pour some of the of-the-shelve additives, like WM Penn Valve Ease in the diesel fuel, or even straight down the inlet? We did this frequently with old petrol engines many years ago, but I have no idea whether it can be done with a diesel?

If not, any suggestions, other than opening the engine?

Regards

You might be better off pulling the valve cover and checking things out.Free up the stuck valve and make sure the pushrod didn't jump out of place, and adjust the rest of the valves while you are in there. Maybe as preventive maintenance an oil and filter change also.
