I have one on my JD430U and on my SMTA Farmall. Love it. Seemed like I was always adjusting points on the 430 to keep it right. It is converted to 12 volt with regular 12 volt automotive coil. Increased spark plug gap and have had less fouling. The SMTA just seems to run better with it, it was also converted to 12 volts, originally with resister ahead of coil but when I put on the ei I got the 12 volt coil from Genesse also. I think the ei is just like a set of points that is set just right. Only problem is after a while the points are no longer "just right" and the ei is. Points and condensor run about $20 or more these days so will pay for the EI shortly.

I put an electronic ign on my JD1520 about 2 years ago and it is still running great. It only took about 15 minutes to install.

I've put on 8 of these kits without a minutes trouble. Purchased from Genesee Electronics. The difference is "there's no comparison". Would not consider points again.

Well,..... ..... my son and I have both had elec. ign in our tractors, hooked up correctly, and neither one lasted very long. By that I mean mine lasted about 4 mos. and his 3 weeks. Yes, hooked up correctly and with the coils recommended by pertronics. I went back to a hot mag and tractor never missed a beat, but for winter season I am going to try elec. again. With a MSD box, it really throws one nasty spark. Some like elec, some don't.
