I took mine in to a hydraulic repair shop and he welded the end back on. They weld them on when they make a new one and mother deere welds them on when they make them. The weld is only as good as the welder and I have saw where deere has made some poor welds, in fact missed making the weld at all.

There are different cylinders used depending on serial-number and whether or not the loader is self-leveling. Rods are in the $175-$225 range, and complete cylinders are $465-$550. Seal kits are around $25 or so. Probably an hour of labor or so to replace the rod and rekit the cylinder. So you could have $300 +/- in repair.

Replace the rod and/or cylinder assembly. Any attempt to weld it and get it to hold is going to be iffy in my opinion. Same thing happened on my uncle's 741 loader on a 7410. He uses it pretty hard, so it wasn't completely unexpected, but suddenly he lost all tilt function. Initially we figured blown packings, but when I unpinned the rod from the tilt linkage, the whole rod came sliding out, minus the piston. Compare prices between a new rod and a complete new cylinder. They may be close enough that by the time you replace the rod and packings and pay for some labor, you'll be close to what an entire cylinder goes for. I'll check part prices and post back.

Put a new shaft in it. Only safe way to do it. Try JD or a hydraulic specialty repair shop can make a new one for it too. Why did it break? Too much slack in other pins too?
