I was looking for something else in my model 50 service manual and noted a statement in the rear wheel section that said, "It is important that both wheels be set the same distance from the center of the tractor." What would be so important about that? If they were 1/4 or 1/2 inch different I can't see why that would be of concern.

That small amount wouldn't make any difference. Most are set for the row width used. Where you would get in trouble is one wheel way out and the other way in. It would be easier to roll over if you put the wheel that was set in on the low side on a steep hill. If you needed to load it on a trailer and needed to move one wheel in to fit then that would be fine to haul it home, then set it back out.

Yup, I realized everything you said. It seems that tractor users are smart enough to figure that all out without a manual statement needing to be made.
