Jwerf, Like Old was thinkin, they were originally top to left cylinder n bottom to right cyliner. If its a non reduction direct drive mag like a Wico C or X, they fire at BOTH TDC"s, Power and Exhaust, and if installed 180 out of time (they fit into governor shafts female drive slot either way) a simple top n bottom wire swap makes em run. Or else you can remove the mag and rotate EITHER its drive or the flywheel 180 and reinstall. If they are 180 out of time they usually pop n bang n maybe backfire and/or kick the fklywheel backwards.

NOTE on the reduction gear drive mags like the Wico AP and some of the Fairbanks Morse, they MUST BE IN TIME and a wire swap WILL NOT make them run if they are 180 out of time.

If I remember right the top one goes to the left, if you want it to look right. But it doesn't matter as far as it running The mag can be put on 2 ways only one will be 180 out and the other way is right but if its 180 out you just switch plug wires and it runs the same. I have a 1935 B that is 180 out and I'm not going to change it.
