When my father passed away, he left me his John Deere B. It does not have the serial number tag on it. Is there any other way I can determine the year of this tractor.

It's new enought to have the power-trol. The seat is the later one, not the pan seat. It does not have the roll-o-matic.

Any ideas?

Angie, Look at the pictures in the tractor photo galleries of this site, for 1947 and newer John Deere B's. 1947 is the first year for the seat with the battery box underneath. Does your fathers tractor's seat look like those? Next, look at the rear axle castings are they round or square? Round axles with the newer seat where made from 1947 to 1949. I think the square axels were made in 1950 to 1952. That may help you get closer to the year it was made. Without the serial tag, it is hard to know the exact year. Good luck.
