JDGnut, I got my 620 running today. It had been acting like you described in the post below. Turned out to be the fuel sediment bowl inlet was clogged with little flakes of rust and starving tractor. Mine didn't have a screen inside tank. JD dealer didn't have one on the shelf, so I put it back together without one(temporary). Runs good now. Just thought I'd let you know.

I tore the carb down off of the 630 from Iowa the night and found that the load adjustment jet looked a little funny, but I couldn't quite place what was wrong, but I knew the holes were plugged from the adjustment to the fuel towers. When I took the duplex apart off my G, I saw what was wrong with the 630 Carb. The end of the metering jet was broke off and stuck to the seat, pluging the holes for the fuel. No wonder it wouldn't run under a load. Funny thing is that the 630 would only miss on one cylinder even though each side is fed seperatly. Well I havn't started her (G) up tonight, but I will shortly. I'll have to rub her nose and scratch her behind the ears before I crank on her, maybe then she'll behave, like a tractor. Well later.

I pulled the bowl off my carb and it looked pretty clean. Well, I couldn't leave well enough alone. I tried to turn the load screw and it didn't want to turn. I tried a little harder and it came out, but it looks like the end of it is broken also and stuck inside. I shined my light in there but couldn't tell if the end was in there or not. My local dealer don't stock much of anything(I called). So I put the load screw back in and sealed bowl with black RTV. I know this don't sound good, but it's temporary. And it fired right up and runs pretty good. The load screw on mine is about 5/16 or so on bottom with threads and then a piece about 3/32 and about 1 inch or so with end that looks like rung off, blunt on end. Isn't it suppose to have a point on end. Thanks, Nathan

Nathan, the load adjustment just has the taper on it, it does not go to a point like others. On mine whole piece was broke off and stuck up in there on the carb off the 630. These things are pricey, about $52-54 for just that one valve. If you have ever priced a rebuild kit of a duplex you know what I'm talking about, they are about $120 for the kit I usually take them apart and see how the needles and stuff are, usually you can get by with a good cleaning a new needle and seat (For the float) and a gasket set. Well Later.
