I just purchased A 4010 JD with a model 46 loader on it. Is this loader made for this tractor? It mounts to the two threaded holes where you would bolt front weights on. I'm not sure I like that idea. I have already sheared one of the bolts off. P.S. The bottom frame rail of loader doesn't even come close to the tractors frame. Any Help? Thanks

Grade 5 or even grade 8 bolts are harder to shear. I think the 46 was capable of fitting the 4010.

Last year I mounted a MF loader on my 4020. To make things stronger, I hung the front cross bar on those front weight bolts on posts going up (all 3" square tubing, with inserts to keep the bolts from squashing it), then I laid lengths of 2x4 steel tubing on the cross bar and along side the side frames of the 4020 bolted liberally with sleeves welded in to keep the tubing from being squashed by the bolts. So far digging dirt it works like a bulldozer and there's been no problems. I had to weld tubes on the middles of the added side frames sticking out to hold the loader and I considered adding a yoke under the engine to keep them from twisting, but it appears the 2x4x1/4 tubing is stiff enough to prevent that. And its about twice as strong as the JD side frames. But a yoke across the tractor would reduce the twisting of your side frames, if you are concerned about them.
