Nerds isn't a nice word I know, but I'm wondering if there are any sharp computer-types on here who might know how this web site is configured to make it so responsive to even a slow rural telephone line as I have for my internet connection. Most internet sites I visit are so very slow on a voice grade rural telephone line, but YT Mag is always much faster. A technical explanation is welcome-I'm a retired engineer but never got into much about computers (like their inner workings) other than using them. thanks

Hi!
I'm a retired phone company engineer and do quite a bit with computers, but don't claim to be an expert. I have a couple of web sites that I manage and have a small understanding on how that some of them work. My guess is that this site doesn't use Java scripts, for one thing, and another thing that helps is lack or large image background images. KISS really does work for speeding up loading. There are some things YOU can do to help. I use Firefox as a browser. It is much faster that IE. It can be configured to do some thins that really help on page loading and is much more versatile. Cost is zip, just a free download.
