I have a 720D that won't shift into 1st or 3rd gears. Anyone ever have this problem? Or hear of it? I was going to open up the top and have a looksee but I need the old girl. Hay season and all, sure would be nice to have 3rd too! Any help would be nice. Thanks ED

I have a 520 that did that once. The transmission shifting post might be a little worn causing it to slip over the pawl and fork. You will have to remove the top of the tranny and then move the pawls to the neutral positions then put the top back on, not a big job. If it does it again you might want to ad a touch of weld and slightly build up the end of the shifting post. Hope this Helps it worked for me.

thanks for the tip I'll go ahead and oderthew gasket for the top and pop it open in a week as soon as I'm done with this cutting.
