Tonight we replaced the clutch and assorted parts (plate/bearings)put everything back together and can't get the transmission to stop turning with the clutch petal pushed in. So here's the theory we have. The clutch plate seems to release as if I park it on a hill and and coast the clutch grabs at about the 1/2 way point and will allow the tractor to coast before I bottom out the petal. So we believe the clutch is in fact releasing and doing what it is supposed to do. Just to add to this the adjustment for the free travel is set all the way in (full counter clockwise setting) which after 3 arguments (2 with myself and one with Dad) I believe is correct as the plates wear the plate fingers should move out and require the adjustment to go clockwise. If I am wrong on this count please let me know as I am very hard on myself when I argue with myself. I know I need help.

Anyways, the thought is that the propeller shaft is binding on the dust cup in the back of the flywheel. The thought is that we would split the tractor again and pop out the dust cup from the flywheel if we see signs of wear on it. As my X-ray vision is not what it used to be is this possible or has anyone else run into this as I really do not want to split it again this week but what other choices are there? This tractor has always had some issues with the clutch intermittently not releasing for as long as I can remember. The other thought is am I missing something else stupid? This was supposed to be a simple clutch change out so I can not think of anything that we have overlooked.

Thanks for replying as I am losing what few marbles I have left.
