James,
All depends on what cultivators you are talking about. The M4 and M5 tool bar has cultivator attachments and will fit both the M and MT. The M-50 Tool Carrier also has cultivator attachments and will fit both. MT200 Series cultivators will only work on the MT. Now the M100 would mount on the MT but I don't know if you could adjust it to go deep enough. The M10A cultivators would also mount to the MT and like Bus Driver stated with the chains it would make it easier to adjust the depth. If you go to johnnypopper.com I posted some pictures of the different cultivators.

I went to johnnypopper.com and could'nt find those photo's of the cultivators for an MT. Could you tell me how to navigate to them.

Go to johnnypopper page and on the left side you will see Discussion click on this, click on The Tractor Shed, When it opens on the left side you will see pages click on page 2. Look for topic "Cultivator for an M" and click on it.
