I have what is guessed to be a 43'-44' A and the steel serial plate has rusted off. Any other ways to determine model year by casting #'s or anything else?

By the way I'm new here, I have the 'A' listed above and a 56' 420C crawler loader, which will be paid off soon I hope. I am sorta new to this but I'll be around on here, mainly with lots of questions about this 'A'. Thanks!

That would be serial number range of 523600 to 542626. The 43 model year is broke into two sections. The A was killed for 7 months in 43. The first half was angle iron frame with big cap. The second half was 522600-524422 with cast frame with small pressure cap. As you can see, the last little bit of 43 had a cast frame and pressure cap. Deere also started the PTO flipper at serial number 523600. So, if you have a flipper guard on the PTO and a cast frame with a small pressure cap it would be in the range of 523600-542626. The ending serial number for 43 is 524422. Your tractor could be one of the last 1322 made for 1943 or one of the almost 20,000 made for 1944. I would bet that it is a 1944. Hope this helps.
