Is your carb # 13429 ? If so the solenoid for that carb list price for some less from Zenith but maybe not by the time you add freight. Carb #12879 is obsolete and replaced by #13429 Zenith.

The electric solenoid shuts off fuel through the main jet, to prevent engine run-on or "backfire" at shutdown.

Sometimes, when the dolenoid coil fails, people have been known to simply clip of the needle. I am not recommending that, just passing along what people have done.

Electric float ??? It is usually a load needle ? I thought the book gave steps to flip the insides around ? so it will work manualy. At least I think I read something about this on a 1020 model.

I have a 1020 with the same setup and I just replaced mine. On the original solenoid if the solenoid failed, you could screw out the needle, put the spring on top of the needle and go on with business but the replacements are sealed so that is not easily done. The wire on mine had come loose from the inside coil so i took a dremmel and cut the end cap off therefore allowing me to switch around the spring and continue on with work until I could replace it. John Deere does sell a none solenoid type needle replacement for about $9.00. But I replaced mine with the solenoid type and it was $120.00.
